Our Workplace Safety Program at Honor Construction is key to our success.

All Substation employees are trained in basic safety, hazardous communication, spotter training, excavations & trench safety, basic electrical training, hazard awareness, minimum approach distance, grounding procedures, fall protection, OSHA ET&D or OSHA10, first aid/CPR, rigging & signal person, and cable location.

A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) or daily job briefing is performed by the foremen and crews at the start of each workday, reviewed after lunch and revised as necessary throughout the day if the scope of work or situation changes. A daily Safety Sign Off Sheet is completed at the end of each day and signed by all employees, it is used as a post job briefing identifying any best practices, lessons learned, opportunities for improvement and/or near misses. We use an Excavation Procedure Checklist whenever digging inside a substation or whenever there is potential for underground obstructions to ensure that all the proper steps are taken prior to excavation, including but not limited to cable locating, hand digging and peer checks. We follow a Close Proximity Procedure whenever we are working near energized equipment or lines to ensure all the proper steps are taken, all hazards are identified & mitigated. Safety observations are performed weekly by our Safety Supervisor or General Foreman, as well as Peer-to-Peer Safety Observations weekly by crew members to identify and correct any unsafe behaviors.

Safety is always our top priority, taking precedent over everything else.
